Expression Syntax
The right hand sides of transformation functions closely follow the syntax
of Fortran 77 arithmetic expressions.
The main differences (in addition to the less restrictive naming rules for
variables) are:
- Transformation functions may be written in upper, lower or mixed case
and there there is no limit on their length;
- Only the generic form of intrinsic functions is available, but some
additional built-in functions are provided;
- The data types of variables and constants are interpreted differently
(see below and Section
).

detail.
